Celebrate the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary At This Namesake Church

There is never a bad time to celebrate Mother Mary, and March is no exception - especially since the Feast of the Annunciation is on March 25th!

In case you are unfamiliar with the Annunciation, it marks the moment when the Angel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary and announced that she had been chosen to be the Mother of Jesus. This event, recorded in Luke 1:26-38, is one of the most significant moments in salvation history. Mary’s response, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word,” shows her complete trust in God’s plan.

The Feast Day of the Annunciation is exactly nine months before Christmas and reminds us of Mary’s role in God’s plan of salvation.

In honor of this important day in the Church, we invite you to make a pilgrimage to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary:

Tucked away in Aurora, Illinois, the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the most "quiet, prayerful, and holy places for members to pray."

Established in 1875, Annunciation began with a congregation who met in the "Big Woods" before building and establishing the beautiful church that still stands 150 years later.

When you visit, you are invited to "joyfully worship together to give praise, honor and glory to Almighty God" via the Church's stunning artwork and fixtures, welcoming community, and beautiful masses.

Mass at the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated Monday through Friday at 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m., Saturday at 8 a.m. and 5:15 p.m., and Sunday at 7:30 a.m., 8:45 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.

In addition to celebrating mass, pilgrims are invited to come and pray during the day, as the church is open daily until 4 p.m.

Depending on when you visit, you may be able to partake in one of the parish's many events, including a Luminary Mass, Adoration, and special seasonal events.
