EWTN Offers A Truly One-Of-A-Kind Pilgrimage For Catholics

When I was newly married, I worked for an EWTN affiliate in Kansas and loved every minute. I learned so much with the radio station, as the programming was always running in the office.

Thanks to EWTN, I could listen to and participate in the daily mass while I worked.

I learned all kinds of parenting advice from Dr. Ray.

Teresa Tomeo kept me updated on current events and the culture.

Catholic Answers addressed several queries about the faith (and then some).

It was life-changing, which is why I still listen to and financially support Catholic radio.

While I have yet to visit the studio in Irondale, Alabama, it is a pilgrimage that I plan to take, and I encourage you to do so, too!

What makes EWTN genuinely one-of-a-kind? I'm glad you asked:

Launched in 1981 by Mother Angelica, the Eternal Word Television Network is not only the first-ever Catholic network but the largest religious media network in the world!

Housed in a state-of-the-art multi-media digital complex, EWTN produces radio and television programs, plus "The National Catholic Register," most of which can be seen firsthand during your visit to the studio.

When you visit, you will find a full schedule of daily offerings, including televised and non-televised mass, a studio tour, daily adoration, perusing around the gift shop, and more.

Depending on when you visit, you may even have a chance to be part of a show taping, with "At Home With Jim and Joy" taking place on Mondays,  "Scripture and Tradition" with Fr. Mitch Pacwa on Tuesdays, and "EWTN Live" with Fr. Mitch Pacwa on Wednesdays.

While the massive media complex is reason enough to visit, pilgrims of EWTN are also invited (and encouraged) to visit the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

Located a mere hour from the studio, the Shrine was also founded by Mother Angelica and invites its guests to partake in mass, confession, and guided tours.

In addition to the gorgeous sanctuary, the Most Blessed Sacrament houses the John Paul II Eucharistic Center, which was established "to teach the Biblical and historical roots of the Church's teaching, tour guides lead visitors through scriptural scenes which lead us to see that Jesus is the Lamb of God, and the Bread of Life come down from Heaven."

As if you need another reason to visit, the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament is the home of Our Lady of the Angels Monastery and the Mother Angelica-founded Order of Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration.
