Honor and Remember the Unborn at the Shrine of Holy Innocents

The month of December is full of important Feast Days and Solemnities.

The Feast of St. Nicholas.

The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Feast of the Holy Innocents.

As the mother of a child born into heaven, the latter of these days has special meaning to me, as it lets me not only remember the many children senselessly killed by King Herrod but also my own little saint in heaven.

To commemorate this important day in the Catholic Church, we invite you to visit the Shrine of the Holy Innocents:

Located in the heart of New York City, the Shrine of the Holy Innocents is on a mission to "be a spiritual oasis in one of busiest business districts in the world."

Founded in 1866, the Shrine is home to the touching Shrine of the Unborn, the world's only Shrine dedicated to the souls who died before or during birth.

Visitors at the Shrine are invited to light a candle and add their child(ren)'s name to the "Book of Life," which is honored monthly at a special mass.

In addition to the Shrine of the Unborn, the Shrine of the Holy Innocents is also home to the original painting of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, which was sent to the parish from the nearby St. Patrick's Catholic Church in 1931.

Mass at the Shrine and Parish Church of the Unborn is celebrated multiple times daily and includes both the Novus Ordo and Latin Tridentine Mass.

For a complete list of mass times, please visit their website

To make your pilgrimage even more holy, you are invited to celebrate one of the devotions offered throughout the day, including the Holy Rosary, Vespers and Benediction, and Divine Mercy Chaplet.

Can you imagine a more incredible place to observe the Feast of the Holy Innocents?
